What should I type into it?
The purpose, not the message. “Cancel tomorrow but I want to reschedule”, “thank my manager for covering my shift”, “remind the group about the deposit without sounding annoying”. The more you say about the situation and what you want to happen next, the less generic the text. One sentence is usually enough.
Audience and style
Two settings change the result more than anything else. Audience tells it who is reading: a friend, a partner, your boss, a parent, a group chat. Style sets the register: casual, warm, formal, funny, direct. The same request to “say I'll be late” reads very differently to a client than to your best friend.
How is this different from Reply to a text?
Reply to a text starts from a message someone sent you and answers it. Write a text starts from nothing and is for messages you initiate: asking, inviting, reminding, apologising, checking in. If there is already a message on screen you need to answer, use the reply tool, or share a screenshot and let it read the whole thread.
Where it works
Write a text is on the TextAI keyboard, so you can type the purpose straight into iMessage, WhatsApp or Instagram, tap the tool and the finished text lands in the message field. The app also has ready-made tools for the common cases: Apology text, Thank you text, Invitation text, Cancellation text and more.
