Why reference the profile?
Because it is the one thing that proves you read it. Most first messages are “hey” or a compliment on a photo, and they get skimmed. An opener built on their prompt answer or a detail in the background of a photo is easy to reply to and tells them you are paying attention.
Screenshot or text?
