How to Make AI-Written Text Sound Human

TextAI Team · · 2 min read

Short answer: cut the opening sentence that restates why you are writing, break up sentences that all have the same length, swap formal words for the ones you would say out loud, and remove the tidy three-part lists. A humanizer tool does these edits for you; you still need to check that every fact survived.

The tells

People rarely spot AI text by a single word. They spot a pattern:

  • The throat-clearing opener. "I hope this message finds you well" or "I wanted to reach out regarding…" before saying anything.
  • Even rhythm. Every sentence is medium length with a comma in the middle.
  • Groups of three. "Clear, concise and compelling." Real people list two things, or four, or one.
  • Upgrade words. Delve, leverage, seamless, navigate, foster, elevate.
  • Polite summaries. A final line that repeats the message: "Overall, I think this is a great opportunity."

The edits that fix it

  1. Delete the first sentence. Start with what you actually need. This one edit removes most of the AI feel from an email.
  2. Vary the length. Follow a long sentence with a short one. Like this.
  3. Use your words. Read it aloud. Replace anything you would not say to the person's face.
  4. Break the symmetry. If there are three adjectives, keep the one that matters.
  5. Cut the summary. If the last line repeats the first, drop it.

Using a humanizer

TextAI's Humanize AI text tool rewrites a passage so it reads naturally: varied rhythm, everyday wording, no generic phrasing. It keeps the meaning, the tone, the language and roughly the length of the original. Paste or select the text, run it, then read the result once more for anything specific you need to keep, like a date, a number or a name.

When not to bother

If the text is a form, a template or a quick factual reply, sounding human does not matter much. It matters most where the reader is judging you: messages to people you know, cover letters, apologies, and anything personal.

A note on honesty

Humanizing text you wrote with AI help is fine for your own messages. For school work and job applications, follow the rules you are under. Many institutions treat undisclosed AI-generated work as misconduct whatever it sounds like.
